Weekend. Whoo? [08 Nov 2009|05:33pm] onlyifyouknew Pretty good weekend! Good: - Caleb Richard and I went to Ventura to hand with Rochella. Got there Friday night, came home Saturday night (well 2am-ish Sunday morning. Haha) - watched Fourth Kind. Dude way too creepy and unnerving. Recommended! - drove around aimlessly - all went back to the hotel with tall boys and 40's. Haha. We only got buzzed but it was fun. Huge music discussion. We all have our punk roots, but both Rochella and I were into the gutter stuff. Haha. We even did a mini west side story snap off. Haha. We stayed up til about 5 am. Haha - breakfast and thrifting downtown Ventura. - dropped off Rochella cause her sisters dog was having issues trying to give birth. Almost died:( but the doggy is fine now. :) Did shopping at the mall with the boys who pretended to be gay at the store. It was interesting. Haha. They know how to embarress me. Haha. - saw Rochella before we headed out. Talked for like 2 hours outside. Haha. - drove to casino. Me and Caleb both got $20...he ended up with $0 and I ended up with $80. Haha. Went home passed out Bad: woke up grumpy today. -car still needs brakes fixed - battery completely dead - almost thought I lost my watch and had a nervous breakdown. It was ay work. So yeah. ! [09 Nov 2009|04:50am] smart_idiot [ music | Wooden Heart - Elvis Presley ] So I'm updating for the first time in months today for a slightly surreal reason. As you may know, I'm a 3rd year Education major in RUW. A part of the course is having to go visit other schools and observe shit and help around and stuff. Today, I got the chance to observe a substitute deal with a high school senior class. One of the girls came up to me and asked, "smart idiot?" to which I replied with a confused stare before going, "Yessssss? How did you know?" Turns out, she reads my LJ! Not only did I open DrunkenWerewolf's email to discover these two kind-of-new Caitlin Rose songs, I also learned from promoter For Folk's Sake that Ms Rose will be playing a series of shows in London this December, dates listed bellow. The songs she sent me - one old cover of "Still Feelin' Blue" to celebrate Gram Parsons' birthday, and one session version of "Sinful Wishing Well" - are more of the heartbreakingly beautiful stuff DW has come to love. So, hopefully I'll see you at one of the gigs! What's even lamer is that I secretly feel a little jolt of happiness when I hear artists talking about dropping out of high school in songs, like it makes my situation less embarrassing. Things aren't so bad though .. I kick ass at work and it's actually lookin like I will be enrolling in FSU next fall, maybe if I can manage not to fuck that up I just might actually go somewhere with my life !
